On the mission - The Beginning

Well were are back in one piece and achieved a lot in Papua New Guinea. As mentioned, the internet was very expensive and slow in PNG so we decided that we would just start the trip posts from when we returned home... So for the next few weeks we will put up a post every 3 or 4 days. So keep your eye on here and let us know what you think.

For this expedition we recieved support from various domestic and international companies. As per usual Bliss-Stick Kayak Designs provided both Jordan and Barny with a Bliss-Stick "Mystic". This has been our creek-boat of choice for the past four years and the boat of choice for some of the worlds best white-water paddlers.

Kev England, the founder of Hydroscapes, provided "RGC" carry systems for the expedition and has also provided Barny and Jordan with his "Full On Vest".

Kara and Brent Crossan at Back Country - Cuisine were also very gernerous in their support providing the expedition with a heap of their 2 serve dehydrated meals.

A taste of home

Bivouac / Outdoor, care of Scott and Matt at the Tower Junction Store, supplied us with some fundamental tools for our trip. Namely a Whisper-Lite Stove and Bottle, a Steri-Pen, light shells, first-aid nelgenes and dry bags.

Some of the Essentials

Immersion Research has recently began sorting Jordan and Barny out by providing them with their Comp LX dry-top, a jacket that has already proven itself on the West Coast Rivers this summer.

Canadian Club Whisky, the drink of choice for kayakers across the world, have provided us with support in the form of product... something that will help us truely celebrate the success' we achieved in PNG.

BUT most of all, this trip would not of been possible without the support of SPARC. Sport and Recreation New Zealand, in the form of the Hillary Expedition Grant, provide support for adventure recreationalists. This initiative aims to imspire and encourage New Zealanders to take on exciting, world-class physical challenges in the great outdoors... something that we hope our expedition to Papua New Guinea will achieve.
